But it’s not the Van Halen you think we’re talking about…

While things are quiet on the Van Halen front these days, the group is being represented in four-legged fashion Down Under. A thoroughbred named Van Halen has just started its career on the horse racing circuit in Australia, ridden by jockey Blake Springs.

The horse hasn’t been getting good reviews, however; it’s won just once, and the Sporting News writes that it “hasn’t lived up to the promise he showed early in his career” — unlike Eddie Van Halen and company who came roaring out of the box with their 1978 debut album.

The band, however, has been dormant since wrapping up its latest tour in October of 2015; Despite rumors of new recording, no confirmed news has been reported.
