Joe Satriani is heading into the ‘80s for this year’s G4 Experience.
The fourth edition of the festival, which will be held July 24-28 in Carmel, California, will feature Phil Collen of Def Leppard, Ratt’s Warren DeMartini and Paul Gilbert of Mr. Big. The festival will also celebrate the 30th anniversary of Satriani’s Surfing With The Alien album and give students a chance to study with the big-name players.
In a statement, Satriani says: “What an incredible lineup! Phil, Warren and Paul are all virtuosos with a wide range of professional experience in the music world. Together we look forward to sharing all of our musical knowledge with this year’s G4 campers.”
In addition to the guitarists, Surfing With The Alien co-producer John Cuniberti will attend the G4 to discuss the album, and Satriani’s band from that era — bassist Stu Hamm and drummer Jonathan Mover — will play together for the first time since 1995.
