Rolling Stones guitarist Ron Wood has been given the all-clear after a lesion was removed from his lung on Wednesday (May 24).

According to band representatives, the lesion was discovered during a routine physical examination and was removed by keyhole surgery. He’s expected to make a full recovery and will require no further treatment, but he has been ordered to give up smoking.

In a statement, Wood said: “I’m so grateful for modern screening which picked this up so early, and would like to thank all the doctors who treated me.”

Wood and the Stones begin a European tour on June 9 in Hamburg, Germany.
