Def Leppard’s Phil Collen has something new coming – and it’s not music.

The guitarist has announced a new line of Electric Splatter sneakers, a limited edition run he’s doing with Six Hundred Four in Vancouver and house artist Zak Vine. Only 30 pairs of shoes – each custom-painted, numbered and signed by Collen – have been created at $500 per pair.

In a statement, Collen says he struck up a relationship with Six Hundred Four when he stopped in the company’s storefront during a Def Leppard stop in Vancouver. Finding it “more like an art gallery than a shoe store,” he signed on to produce the shoes, noting that, “I would have never thought that in less than 24 hours after walking into the Six Hundred Four store in Vancouver that I’d be splashing paint on a pair of really cool sneakers. Def Leppard was playing…that night so time was of the essence. Creating live art on a pair of sneakers turned out to be an explosive and exciting combination.”

Collen’s splatter-style shoe designs were inspired by his love of avant-garde painter Jackson Pollock. The shoes are currently available for pre-order at www.sixhundredfour.com and will ship on August 28.
