Judas Priest fans can put a little turbo love in their garages this month. A Porsche 911 Turbo SE owned by Judas Priest guitarist Glenn Tipton will be part of a Porsche Sale being held by Silverstone Auctions in the U.K. on Oct. 21.
The Chiffon White 1985 model is in near-new condition with just 14,100 miles on it; it inspired the Priest song “Turbo Lover” as well as the title of the group’s 1986 album Turbo and is expected to fetch up to nearly $300,000.
In a statement Tipton says that he got the car while visiting a Porsche factory in Germany in 1985; “We had a tour of the factor at Stuttgart and I was so impressed with the engineering and how meticulous they were when building cars, and I just had to have one. But I live out in the sticks, and it has to be nice weather to take the Porsche out, so I hardly ever use it. It’s time for it to go to someone who will get some use of it, but it’s going to be very hard to let it go.”
