There’s good news for John Mayer and Dead & Company fans; the guitarist has been released from a hospital in New Orleans and is home and resting after an emergency appendectomy last week.
Mayer posted an Instagram message to fans with a photo of himself and the message: “Home. See you in a bit” accompanied by a heart emoji.
Mayer was rushed to the hospital last Tuesday (Dec. 5) for the procedure, forcing Dead & Company to postpone the final three dates of its fall tour in New Orleans (which will be made up Feb. 24), Orlando (Feb. 27) and Fort Lauderdale (Feb. 26).
Mayer tweeted a message at the time thanking fans for “the well wishes” and saying: “I’m so sorry that we couldn’t finish out the last few dates of the tour. This band and these shows mean the world to me. Love you all.”
Meanwhile, Mayer’s fellow Dead & Company guitarist Bob Weir has announced his first-ever duo tour with Grateful Dead bassist Phil Lesh, with six March shows in New York, Boston and Chicago.
