You’ll be able to walk all over Jimi Hendrix this month — in a manner of speaking. A June 17 opening has been set for Jimi Hendrix Park in Seattle, a 2.5-acre site located at the Northwest African American Museum in the city’s Central District.

One section of the park, known as Little Wing, has been open since October; the full 2.5-acre site will include a “grand” entrance and stairway featuring Hendrix’s signature, a walkway chronicling his life and career that includes etched lyrics to “Little Wing” and “Angel,” a variety of new plantings and a butterfly garden.

Janie Hendrix, CEO of the family-owned Experience Hendrix label, will preside over the ribbon-cutting at noon PST on the 17th, with a variety of local artists set to perform throughout the afternoon.
