Have the hankies ready when you watch the the new video for “Leaving Aurora” from Nexus, the upcoming duo album from Yes’ Steve Howe and his late son Virgil.
The elder Howe has turned the clip into a memorial tribute for Virgil, who passed away in September, incorporating photos and video of his son as he plays the song on acoustic guitar. The two Howes had just completed work on Nexus, which comes out Nov. 17, at the time of his death.
In a statement, Howe said that the album “explores a completely different side of Virgil’s ability, as a writer and keyboard player — in his own right. His talents were multi-diverse, so sitting at a keyboard and computer or in the middle of his drum kit, at all his regular DJ gigs or one on the radio, he always gave his best. We hope that the music just completed will stand as a fitting tribute to his life and legacy.”
In addition to working with his father, Virgil Howe was also part of Little Barrie, the Killer Meters , the Dirty Feel and more. Howe’s other son, Dylan, toured with Yes as a second drummer this year.
