How many guitars does Eddie Van Halen own?

So many that he can apparently give away 75 of them at a clip. But Van Halen’s donation is for a good cause; he’s sending the 75 axes to the Mr. Holland’s Opus Foundation, a nonprofit that provides instruments to public schools in low-income and at-risk areas.

In a statement, Van Halen says that: “Music is such a necessity. It touches people’s souls. Music is the universal language to me. It transcends everything.”

He also tells CNN that: “My whole life has been music. I could not imagine anything else. It really hit me when I graduated high school… [Music is] a must. It has to be taught.”

The Foundation provides an estimated 1,800 instruments a year to public schools, impacting more than 10,000 students. Van Halen the band, meanwhile, has been on hiatus since its last tour in 2015.
