Gene Simmons apparently wasn’t kidding about his new songwriting collaborations with former Kiss mate Ace Frehley.

Frehley has confirmed the two wrote a pair of new songs for the guitarist’s next solo album, telling Eddie Trunk that: “I just shot [Simmons] an email and said: ‘‘C’mon, let’s write some songs together for my new record.’ Next thing you know, he’s down here and within three hours we had written two songs together which was, like, a record for me and hIm. We ate in the backyard while I was watering my palm trees…He’s eating a sandwich and I’m watering a palm tree in my backyard. But it was a lot of fun.”

Frehley added that: “I think Gene actually came up with more ideas than I did and I just kind of complimented them…I was really pleased, and so was he.”

The session marks the first time Frehley and Simmons have written together since Kiss’ Psycho Circus album in 1998, and their collaboration follows Kiss frontman Paul Stanley’s guest  appearance on Frehley’s 2016 covers album Origins, Vol. 1.

The Simmons songs will appear on Frehley’s first album of original material since 2014’s Space Invader, but no title or release date has been revealed yet.
